The Night Market Xinchang Fireworks Show Lights up the Dragon Boat Festival Night Sky

The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional Chinese festival that has been passed down for thousands of years, rich in cultural and folk customs. During the 2025 Dragon Boat Festival, Meizhu Town, Xinchang County, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, added a unique touch of excitement to the celebration! On the evening of June 1st, the Night Market Xinchang Fireworks Show kicked off, brightly illuminating the Dragon Boat Festival night sky and delighting both local residents and tourists from all over.

This fireworks show was held at the Night Market Xinchang·Paddy Field Fireworks Park, a truly special place. It’s located in the Flower Sea Scenic Area of Meizhu Village, Chengtan Sub-district, Xinchang County (northwest of the intersection of Woxi Avenue and Zhenqian Street), right next to the thousand-year-old Meizhu Ancient Village. The park made use of the original 180-mu flower sea and slightly renovated the terrain to create a beautiful and practical open-air theater. Here, people can enjoy cultural and artistic experiences while having fun and relaxing—it’s incredibly entertaining.

As night fell and the streetlights came on, beautiful streaks of fireworks soared into the sky, instantly breaking the tranquility of the night. The fireworks were a riot of colors. Some streaked across the sky like shooting stars, some bloomed slowly like flowers, and others wriggled like little snakes. The glow of the fireworks lit up the entire Meizhu Town. Paired with the surrounding green mountains, clear waters, and the ancient village, it was like an incredibly beautiful painting, blending modern fireworks seamlessly with the old scenery.

Everyone at the scene was captivated by the beauty, constantly exclaiming in wonder and cheering. Kids jumped up and down with excitement, their eyes fixed on the fireworks, afraid to miss a single moment. Couples snuggled close together, their faces beaming with happiness. The elderly watched quietly, and the sight of the fireworks seemed to bring back memories of Dragon Boat Festivals from the past. This fireworks show not only offered a visual feast but also brought families and friends closer, instantly enhancing the festive atmosphere of the Dragon Boat Festival.

While watching the fireworks, there were also many fun activities around, making the experience even more enjoyable. In the thousand-year-old Meizhu Ancient Village, intangible cultural heritage performances were in full swing. Skilled craftsmen demonstrated traditional skills like paper-cutting and sugar figurine making. They were so dexterous—scissors flashed across the paper, and with a twist and turn of the sugar syrup in their hands, beautiful paper-cuts and adorable sugar figurines were created in no time, drawing applause from the onlookers. Tourists could even try their hand at these crafts under the guidance of the masters, truly experiencing the charm of traditional culture as if traveling back in time.

There were also various food stalls on site, their enticing aromas filling the air. All kinds of local specialties from Xinchang were available. The barbecue sizzled, the crayfish were spicy and fragrant, and the Chaoshan porridge was soft and creamy—each dish was mouthwatering. People enjoyed the delicious food while taking in the beautiful scenery, having a wonderful time. In the park, there were also activities such as Hanfu dressing experiences, kite-making, tea-tasting, and traditional games. Putting on beautiful Hanfu, strolling through the flower sea with a kite, sipping tea in the mountains, or playing traditional games made people feel like they were part of an ancient Dragon Boat Festival celebration, allowing them to fully appreciate the charm of traditional culture.

The Night Market Xinchang project has drawn significant attention since construction began at the end of March this year. It’s a great initiative by Xinchang County to develop tourism and attract more visitors, also boosting nighttime consumption. Now, the project is nearing completion. Besides this stunning fireworks show, there will soon be the largest iron flower show in Zhejiang, as well as a Sunset Theater, a stage for ten-thousand-person chorus, and immersive interactive experiences with NPCs. By then, it will become an extremely fun scenic park where everyone can have a great time and fully experience the unique charm of Xinchang.
