Jul 05, 2018

The Russian Customs online website reported on July 3 that the Eurasian Economic Committee joint meeting decided to reduce the import tariffs on fireworks and gunpowder.

According to the Information Office of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the Eurasian Economic Union has lowered the uniform customs import tariff rate for certain commodities in line with Russia’s obligations in the WTO. Tax rate changes involve gunpowder, fireworks and individual mattress covers. The tax rate has dropped by 1-2 percentage points.

The decision was made in accordance with the legal basis of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space Treaty and the planning measures adapted to the operating conditions of the multilateral trading system. The document was approved by the Joint Meeting of the Economic Commission for Europe in 2012 and is considered for annual revision of the uniform tariffs of the Eurasian Economic Union. The new tariff rate will take effect on September 1, 2018.
